Farmers on clay soils with increased irrigation needs due to climate change

This project is a continuation of the 2021 project to spread knowledge and demonstrate technology to farmers in the Netherlands on water management and optimal irrigation. The 2021 project was focused on sandy and loss soils. However, there was high demand to participate in this project by farmers on clay soils as well. Clay soils maintain relatively high soil moisture levels and require less irrigation than other soil types, especially in wet countries like the Netherlands. However, since the past few years even clay farmers have increased needs for optimized use of water due to climate change and droughts. In this project a group of 10 farmers on clay soils in Flevoland, the Netherlands, will be using our sensors and app throughout an entire farming season in 2022.

This project is about to spread knowledge and demonstrate technology to farmers in the Netherlands on water management and optimal irrigation
