Irrigation Management Solution

What is the irrigation advice based on?

We take several factors into account when forming an irrigation recommendation. The status of your field, real-time sensor measurements, crop/soil models, local weather data, your soil and crop type.

What are the differences between your solution compared to others?

We offer a complete solution that provides recommendations specified to every soil- and crop type and local weather conditions. Our sensor technology is highly robust, reliable and accurate. We have developed our technology based on years of experience as market leading sensor technology in other industries.

Why should I invest in an irrigation management system?

Data-driven irrigation management leads to many benefits for farmers in terms of water management, productivity increases and reduces use of fertilizers and pesticides. It gives farmers ease of mind, real-time insights into their farm data and reduces manual labour.

Sensor technology

What happens if my sensor is not working (not sending data, issues with battery damage)?

We offer robust and highly reliable sensing technology, which limits occurrence of issues with the technology. However, if you experience issues we have a warranty policy. Please, contact us and we will  get in touch with you.

How many years can I use the sensor?

You can use sensors for multiple years.

How long does the battery last?

The sensor battery lasts at least two years, but often much longer.

How accurate is the sensor?

The moisture measurement has less than 1% mean error.

How deep should I measure?

We offer two sensor types, either measuring on two depths 15 and 30 cm, or three depths: 15, 30 and 45 cm. The ideal depth depends on crop type and its root length. Measurements at two depths are sufficient for a large range of crops, however for certain crops with longer roots it is optimal to measure at three depths. Feel free to contact us for advice.

How many sensors do I need?

The optimal sensor density and placement depends on: actual in-field variability (yield maps, satellite images, your view), number of different zones you want to control, where your problem areas are, and a good reference point. Typically, 1 sensor per hectare is recommended, but if you need advice, feel free to contact us

What can I measure with Agurotech sensors?

We have different sensor models, measuring at: 15 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm. Our sensors provide measurements at each depth for soil moisture, soil temperature and electrical conductivity.

Sensor installation

Does the sensor require calibration?

Sensor measurements are calibrated according to soil type, crop type and its growth phase. Local weather data is also taken into account when forming irrigation recommendations.

How do you uninstall a sensor?

To uninstall a sensor simply pull it out of the ground and hold it sideways or upside down to turn it off. You know the sensor is turned off when the light stops burning.

How do you install a sensor?

The installation process is very important to do right to ensure accurate measurements,  we support our customers in doing this the right way. We also provide an instruction manual and video, which we will provide to you in our App.

Sensor connectivity

Is the signal strength affected by crop growth?

It is possible that growing crop leaves can interfere with the signal. In your App you can see the connectivity status and you will get a notification if there are issues with the connectivity.

How does the sensor transmit data?

The sensor transmits data using the cellular network. The cellular technologies supported are NB-IoT, LTE-M and 2G as fallback for areas with bad cellular coverage.

Data & app

Will I receive a notification when I need to irrigate one of my fields?

Yes, you will receive a notification via the App in the shape of an irrigation sign and the irrigation amount in millimeters.

How can I edit the soil data?

You can edit the soil data by selecting the field and following the instructions.

How can I edit field boundaries?

You can edit your field in the application by clicking on the boundaries and rearranging them as you see fit.

How can I delete a field?

You can delete a field by clicking it in the application and following the delete instructions.

I have an iOS phone and my colleague has an Android phone, can we both use the same account?

Yes, it is possible to both access the same account even with different operating systems.

How do I access the App?

After ordering our product, you can download the App in the App Store or Google Play Store. After downloading the App you can link your farm and access the data.

Is my data stored somewhere and can I review it later?

While you have an App subscription, you can always see your data. After you cancel the subscription, it will still be available to you for some time.

How do I receive the data from my sensors?

After installing the sensors and the App, the sensor conducts measurements and automatically sends data to our cloud. We analyse your data and provide you with the insights in your App.

Which question didn't we answer?
