Data analyst

Agurotech delivers game-changing innovation to revolutionize the farming industry. IoT sensors and smart applications will push the future of farming to the next level. The growing demand for food and the need to do this more sustainably will significantly change the way farming is done. More and more farmers are adopting precision farming and smart agriculture practices by using their data to make better decisions. Examples of these include data generated through sensors in the field or satellites that continuously monitor soil conditions and send these to farmers’ smart phones so they can remotely monitor crop growth. Agurotech develops high-tech solutions to help farmers increase their productivity and optimize use of resources and we are looking for a Data Analyst to support our team.

Our technology employs advanced algorithms and proprietary concepts in order to capture and analyze large amounts of data. We are running several demonstration projects for which we have installed sensors in farmers’ fields and in which farmers are using the Agurotech app. Data collected is realized through IoT technology which is then enriched with intelligence from agricultural models and data analysis methods. Agurotech positions herself as a farm data platform and aims to be the go-to provider of farm intelligence and recommendations to improve farmers’ yields and optimize use of resources.

We are looking for someone who is talented in data analysis and modelling. Your job will be to understand and build the latest scientific models, to organize and analyze large amounts of data and to apply cutting edge data analysis techniques. The data consists of sensor measurements for different soil types and crops and user data generated by our App. Under guidance of the company founders you will perform key analyses that contribute to our understanding of the agricultural process, technology performance and user experience. Your analyses will be used to build our products and to improve them and will serve as knowledge base for decision making on new investments.

  • Very strong analytical, numerical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a start-up environment.

  • Good communication, team player and strong social skills.
  • Critical, creative and enthusiastic with a positive mentality.
  • Applicable working visa/ permit for the European Union.
  • Ability to work independently after receiving guidance.

Education and experience
  • 2 to 6 years of work experience in a data-driven role and high performance environment
  • A technical and / or beta study background.Selection of preferred studies: Econometrics & Operations Research, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Physics
  • Relevant University BSc. degree or higher from a good university or ability to prove rigor and talent in mathematics and analysis.
  • Experienced programmer with preferred experience in Python or advanced programmer in other languages.
  • Good grasp of the Dutch or English language.
